A Brief Introduction to Zhangzhou Normal University

Zhangzhou Normal University is located in Zhangzhou City of Fujian Province, an ancient city of culture and the home of narcissus on the west bank of Taiwan Strait. With a history of 45 years, the university is a provincial full-time university offering degrees at bachelor and master’s levels. It is also qualified to jointly run programs with overseas educational institutions and recruit overseas students.

The university, with its delightful scenery, borders on the Jiulong River and covers an area of 90 hectares with total floor space of 500,000 square meters. The university library has a collection of 1,059,000 volumes and more than 3,500 kinds of Chinese and foreign periodicals. It owns a Computer Center and an Audio-Visual Education Center, and has a campus Computer-net. The university now has a student population of over 16,652 and a faculty of 1,114, including 282 teachers with senior academic titles. The university has set up 21 professional research institutes and offers over 71 four-year and three-year courses in Philosophy, Economics, Literature, History, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Applied Electronic Science, Foreign Language, Trade, Physical Culture, Chinese Language for Foreigners, and Touring Management. The university has the gift of master’s degree in 12 fields. In the midst of the garden-like campus, there stands Yu-Fu Building, which was built in accordance with the standards of a guesthouse appropriate for foreigners. There are also the student apartments which are up to the state standards of student dormitories in the future, and the student dinning halls in favorable conditions and standardized management. All these enable the university to provide domestic and overseas students with comfortable living conditions.
